Mr. Rahman told WHP that the remark left his son feeling deeply humiliated and marginalized, describing the experience as if “the whole world around him was spinning.” He expressed concern about the ease with which the teacher used such discriminatory language in front of other students.

The school district announced the teacher’s resignation at a school board meeting on Monday, shortly after the Philadelphia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued a statement calling for an “expedited” investigation into the matter. However, the Rahman family and community members expressed dissatisfaction with the district’s handling of the situation. They argued that allowing the teacher to resign without a formal apology or further disciplinary action was insufficient. The student’s brother told WHP that the incident has significantly impacted the young boy, eroding his trust in teachers and causing considerable emotional distress.
